To share the experience and result of mung bean Farmer Field School (FFS) and Market Oriented Farmer Field School (MFS), Blue Gold organized two workshops in Patuakhali & Khulna respectively on 17 and 19 August. The workshops were attended by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) staff working at different level and concerned Blue Gold staff. The workshop was a platform to learn from each other’s experience and to explore avenues for greater collaboration between DAE and Blue Gold.
Blue Gold representatives presented in detail the current activities of MFS while explaining the difference between FFS and MFS, and how it is contributing to the livelihood development of the WMG members by sensitizing them with various market-oriented initiatives. The results of the trials conducted in the MFS programs were also disseminated. This generated a lively and constructive discussion amongst the participants. Subsequently, DAE officials presented their FFS program and the trial results. A group exercise was conducted in the workshop with a view to generate the pathway for future collaboration of Blue Gold and DAE basing on the lessons learned from the MFS and FFS sessions already conducted during the last season.
The workshops concluded with a pledge of greater cooperation between Blue Gold and DAE for the benefit of all concerned.
